This weekend Pål Varhaug will drive his first race in the GP2 main series at Istanbul Park, Turkey!
-I’m looking forward to the weekend, but now that I still have a lot to learn about GP2. But with a good race I can finish in the top 10, Pål Varhaug says.
-We are quite happy of Pål progresses thought GP2 Asia. We’ve also done a lot of work with Pål since the last race in Imola during the 2 last tests sessions in Silverstone and Barcelona, preparing in particular the qualifications, which is one of the more difficult part of GP2 and training for long race distance. Various things have been tested in order to continue the understanding of the new GP2 car and the Pirelli tires, together with Pål and Romain. Pål is doing some physical training to prepare the race distances because we know there will be a lot of competition this season. We prepare also each race week-end at Dams workshop with Pål and his engineers.This week we focussed on some simulator work to prepare Istanbul and we will all leave tomorrow for the first race week end of the GP2 main series, Loic David, general manager in Dams says.
The weekend starts with a free practice Friday morning ang the qualifying Friday evening. Race one is 15.40 local time on Saturday, and race 2 is 11.35 local time on Sunday.
